Contexte; 2020 The Distance Tales (Series No. 1-20) Blond & Gilles 2020
The Distance Tales is an fictional and conceptual dialogue between the artists‘ collective Blond & Gilles, which was created during the residency at Fundaziun Nairs, from early February to mid March 2020. The collective, which normally works together, experienced the studio stay individually and separately. Gilles wrote about him from a distance, Blond wrote about her. Observing. Thus they created pictures, collages, drawings and texts in which they thematize and reinvent their complications, miseries and obstacles. With The Distance Tales, Blond & Gilles give an insight into private conflicts which they bring in a public dialogue. For the viewer, the work reflect a different context of therapeutic and social relevance in times in which distance and proximity must be renegotiated.
The Distance Tales ist ein autofiktionaler und konzeptioneller Dialog zwischen dem Künstlerkollektiv Blond & Gilles, der während ihrer Residency in der Fundaziun Nairs, anfangs Februar bis Mitte März 2020, entstanden ist. Das Kollektiv, das sonst zusammenarbeitet, erlebte den Atelieraufenthalt individuell und getrennt. Gilles schrieb aus der Distanz über ihn, Blond schrieb über sie. Beobachtend. So entstanden Bilder, Collagen, Zeichnungen und Texte, in denen sie ihre Komplikationen, Misèren und Hindernisse thematisieren und neu erfinden.
Mit The Distance Tales geben Blond & Gilles einen Einblick in private Auseinandersetzungen, die sie öffentlich dialogisieren. Dabei spiegelt sich für Betrachtende in den Arbeiten ein unterschiedlicher Kontext von therapeutischer und gesellschaftlicher Relevanz in Zeiten, in welchen Distanz und Nähe neu verhandelt werden müssen.
