IRMA Republic ist ein neuer, peripherer Thinktank, welcher die Synergien von künstlerischer und wissenschaftlicher Recherche nutzt, um eine multidimensionale Perspektive auf die gegenwärtige Situation des Menschen und der Gesellschaft zu entwickeln. IRMA Republic bringt Künstler:innen und Wissenschaftler:innen zusammen, um verschiedene Formen der Wissensproduktion zu erproben. Die Verschiedenartigkeit der Methoden, die zur Anwendung gelangen, werden von den jeweiligen Expert:innen eingebracht.

 

Die Plattform in Worblaufen b. Bern besteht aus einem Ausstellungsraum, einer Residenz, einem Garten und einem Töpferatelier. IRMA Republic strebt einen Diskurs über ethische und soziale Werte an, wobei neue Formen der Gerechtigkeit und Achtsamkeit entwickelt werden, um Fragen der Gegenwartsgesellschaft zu verhandeln: Technologischer Wandel, Werteverschiebungen, Formen der Innovation. Dadurch werden Themen wie Klimakrise, Individualisierung, Vereinzelung, Oberflächlichkeit und Instabilität zu Arbeitsfeldern, in denen die Akteur:innen tätig werden.

 

Entsprechend dem Thinktank der neuen IRMA Republic, geht das soziale Projekt jährlich 3 – 5  Themen nach. Ab Frühling 2023 sind in Zusammenarbeit mit nachbarschaftlichen Institutionen (Gosteli Stiftung & Hochschule für Agrar-, Forst- und Lebensmittelwissenschaften HAFL) folgende Themen vorgesehen: Biodiversität, Gender, Kollektiv, Migration. Nebst Ausstellungen gibt es Interviews, Talks, Essen und eine Künstler:innenresidenz.

 

In öffentlichen Happenings untersucht IRMA Republic, wie Menschen ihre materiellen Verpflichtungen nicht durch wirtschaftliche  Entscheidungen ausdrücken, sondern durch wissenschaftliche und künstlerische Zugänge, mit den Mitteln zeitgenössicher Kunst und Designpraktiken.

IRMA Republic is a new, peripheral think tank that synergises artistic and scientific research to develop a multidimensional perspective on the current situation of humanity and society. It brings artists, scholars, researchers, and scientists together to employ and test different forms of knowledge production. A diverse range of methods are used which are introduced by the respective experts.

IRMA Republic’s platform in Worblaufen b. Bern consists of an exhibition room, a residency space, a garden, and a pottery studio. IRMA Republic strives for a discourse on ethical and social values, whereby new forms of
justice and mindfulness are developed to negotiate questions of contemporary society: technological change, shifts in values, forms of innovation. As a result, topics such as the climate crisis, individualization, isolation, superficiality, and instability become fields of work in which the participants of this research institute are active in.

In accordance with its think tank organisation, this new social project investigates and navigates through 3 – 5 topics each year. From spring 2023, the following topics are planned in cooperation with neighbouring institutions (Gosteli Foundation & University of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences HAFL): biodiversity, gender, collective, migration. IRMA Republic utilises art-based research and interdisciplinary tactics to engage with and exhibit the research through exhibitions, interviews, talks, publications, meals, and an artist in residency program.

In public happenings, IRMA Republic examines how people express their material obligations not through economic decisions, but through scientific and artistic approaches, using the means of contemporary art and design practices.Irma Republic is a new non-profit art association, founded in 2022. The composition of the curator: interior team, as well as funding from the public sector, foundations and donations is in progress.
